Mats Theselius & Pernilla Magnusson Exhibition – furniture, lamps, objects and urban ideas
Mats Theselius, designer, works at the boundary between art and design. Pernilla Magnusson, architect, works with urban space.
Together they present new ideas in the form of tables, lamps and a shared exploration of how things — and places — are made.

The Exhibition @ ScandinavianDesign Gallery
The show brings together work by Theselius and Magnusson alongside contributions from architect Stefan Andersson, artist Jonas Theselius and photographer Fabian Svensson.
Tables 1 and 2, together with a series of table models, were produced by Theselius and Magnusson for Trio & De Nord in 2008 in soaped oak. A door in oak and brass, made by Bovalls dörrbyggeri, and a limited edition of ceramic and metal lamps — gilded, silvered and in copper — round out the core production. Chairs, a stool and children’s chairs complete the furniture selection, all produced by Trio & De Nord.
Jonas Theselius contributes the object Själens boning in aluminium and glass — a number of houses arranged in a sequence that excludes repetition yet allows unobstructed views — alongside a city plan presented both on a table and on the wall. Fabian Svensson’s projection Dansen (2008) and Stefan Andersson’s 38 floor-plan sketches for apartments in a mini-skyscraper complete the spatial programme.

Uddebo
The project began when Mats Theselius received a commission to design outdoor display cases for the village of Uddebo, to tell its textile history. With Pernilla Magnusson’s involvement, it grew into something closer to a master plan for the entire village. Pavements were drawn for schoolchildren’s walk to the bus. Proposals were made for improved lighting. A meeting place and square were designed, and a park was created at the heart of the village. To place Uddebo once and for all on the world map, a landing strip for extraterrestrials was also proposed — on the very site originally intended for the display cases.
Five years on: the village has been upgraded, the park laid out, the lighting improved, the meeting place established, and the roads authority is now building the pavements. The landing strip is next in line.
