Martela introduces Menu, a versatile chair designed by Stefan Lindfors that combines Nordic functionality with thoughtful elegance
Originally sketched in pastels during the designer’s working retreat in Tenerife, Menu represents a distillation of form and function into essential simplicity.
Intelligent Design
The chair’s defining feature is its carefully proportioned armrests – reduced in depth to allow the chair to hang from table edges, facilitating easy floor cleaning in cafés, conference rooms, and public spaces. This practical detail exemplifies Lindfors’ approach: solving real-world challenges through refined design.
Menu’s stackable construction ensures efficient storage without compromising individual comfort or visual presence. The gentle curve of the backrest provides ergonomic support while maintaining a light, unobtrusive profile.
Design Philosophy

The Menu chair design has evolved into the AX Collection, now manufactured by Piiroinen Oy, the Finnish family-owned furniture company established in 1949.
