Mia Lagerman has designed the Metro chair for Kristensen Chairs

— a piece that reflects her position as one of Scandinavia’s most experienced furniture designers.

Lagerman has worked as a furniture designer for over 25 years, building a body of work that spans both Swedish and international markets.

Her approach produces designs with a distinct visual identity that don’t sacrifice structural rigour — pieces that carry formal conviction while remaining entirely functional as everyday objects. Metro sits within that body of work: a chair designed to read clearly in a room while performing reliably as seating.

Kristensen Chairs is a Danish manufacturer whose catalogue focuses on the chair as a primary design object. The brand works with designers who bring a specific formal proposal to the typology rather than filling a programme gap, making it a natural context for Lagerman’s focused, character-driven approach.

Lagerman is also known for her lighting designs, including the Marcel and Omlott lamps for By Rydéns — work that demonstrates a practice spanning both furniture and lighting within a shared formal sensibility. The Metro chair for Kristensen Chairs represents the furniture strand of that practice, a dining and multi-use chair with the kind of resolved design that positions well in both residential and hospitality settings.

Kristensen Chairs is based in Denmark and produces seating across a range of typologies with emphasis on material quality and maker craft.

Mia Lagerman has designed the METRO chair, which is a part of our Kristensen Chairs.
