In the decades since they were created, way back in 1944

Mogens Koch’s bookcases have become a Nordic furniture design icon, finding their way not only all over Denmark, from small homes to parliamentary offices and boardrooms, but all over the world.

Simply executed, with the highest quality materials and workmanship, they epitomize functionality in the way they lend themselves to myriad combinations.

MOGENS KOCH
Building architect and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Mogens Koch (1898 – 1992) was noticed to that extent – also as a furniture architect behind well -known classics such as the building rack (1928) and the folding chair (designed in 1933, produced from 1959).

Koch was employed by Kaare Klint for a period up to 1934, after which he opened his own drawing room in 1934. At the studio, the tasks were many and versatile, ranging from furniture, new construction, fonts, silver and textiles.

Mogens Koch actively participated in the idealistic development work that would lead to better and cheaper furniture for FDB customers. So even though Mogens Koch Møbler today achieves high auction prices, many of them were drawn with a rationale in use and production in mind.

The beautiful and strong shelf boxes are among his most popular design. Designed in the 1940s – and loved worldwide for their simplicity and countless combination options. This is really a piece of furniture that survives generation after generation.
