Carl Hansen & Søn presents the ND550F Footstool, designed in 1955 by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel
Danish architects Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel were pioneers in Danish design and had a playful and unconventional approach to design.
In the 1950s, the couple began to focus on lounge chairs and footstools as independent objects rather than simply accessories to, for example, the sofa.
In 1955, the Ditzels designed the ND550F Footstool, which, with its understated look, can easily be combined with other furniture or function as a stand-alone object.
Carl Hansen & Søn now brings the ND550F Footstool back to its original design, as Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel originally drew it. This means that the legs in solid oak or walnut have been made lower and more slanted. The generous, slightly curved seat is fully upholstered by hand on both the top and bottom to complete the footstool’s high level of comfort with an exclusive look.
The stool is crafted in Denmark by Carl Hansen & Søn on the island of Funen.
