Following the success of its initial launch in 2022, Space Copenhagen’s Rotate trolley for &Tradition continues to evolve with three new colourways.
Expanding the range to encompass an even wider colour palette, the three new hues are intended to appeal to every interior scheme; Cobalt Blue offers a vibrant pop of colour to corners or blank spaces, Dark Plum is a sophisticated shade that works well in a multitude of spaces, and Stone Grey provides a neutral tone with a touch of character.
Made from a single sheet of powder-coated steel, Rotate is bent into its shape and then welded together. The unusual design was inspired by origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, which sees a singular sheet transformed into intricate shapes. As a result, it doesn’t present with an obvious front or backside, yet it can be easily accessed from all angles.
“There is something so playful and intriguing about the whole idea of folding a sheet into three-dimensional objects,” explain Space Copenhagen founders Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou. “It points towards a system, a tool to create something, which can be both very complex, but also simple and accessible. The same goes for Rotate – with a simple fold of a metal sheet, it becomes a shape that fulfils a functional purpose.”
Rotate’s unassuming appearance belies its highly functional design. Designed to suit a wide variety of purposes – from an office trolley to a bedside table or kitchen storage unit – this asymmetrical piece can be inserted into any space. To ensure maximum adaptability, it sits on discreet wheels to facilitate quick and simple manoeuvrability from one location to the next.
The new colourways—Cobalt Blue, Dark Plum, Stone Grey— join an existing palette of four warm and earthy tones: Terracotta, Hunter, Ivory and Merlot.
