SANKT ANNAE SERIES

Designed by Space Copenhagen for Malte Gormsen, a furniture series in solid wood and paper cord, made in our workshop in Herlev.

The Sankt Annae Series, designed by Space Copenhagen for Malte Gormsen, is the result of many years of close collaboration centred around craftsmanship, furniture making, architecture, detailing, and material exploration.

Named after the Copenhagen district where it was conceived, the collection reflects a meeting of tradition and contemporary life. At the same time, it draws from Space Copenhagen’s years of work in Japan, where lightness and permanence, simplicity and presence, exist in quiet balance.

The series is guided by an elemental approach to furniture making. Structure and material are allowed to speak for themselves. Every part serves a purpose, every detail emerges from the logic of construction. The forms are restrained yet generous, familiar yet difficult to place within any single tradition.

Crafted from solid wood and finished by hand, each piece features a seat and back woven in paper cord. Together, these materials create a tactile expression of warmth, durability, and human touch.

Every piece is handcrafted in Malte Gormsen’s workshop in Herlev, Denmark.

The series includes dining chairs, lounge seating, sofas, a bar stool, and a rocking chair.

Established in 2005 by Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, Space Copenhagen is a design studio working across multiple disciplines from furniture, lighting and refined objects, to art installations, art direction and interior design for private homes, hotels and restaurants all over the world.
