Johanson Design is proud to present the latest addition to the successful SKETCH furniture series – a versatile bench that expands this innovative collection. The new bench will be showcased at Salone Del Mobile in Hall 24, stand C31, alongside Noon Lighting.
Following the acclaimed introduction of the SKETCH series during Stockholm Design Week 2024, designers Färg & Blanche have extended their creative vision to include this functional yet distinctively designed bench option.
Innovative Construction Meets Distinctive Design
The SKETCH collection stands out for its pioneering construction techniques. Färg & Blanche ingeniously repurposed a carpet overlock machine to stitch together multiple layers of high-quality textiles, creating three-dimensional forms with remarkable structural integrity.
This innovative approach transforms the overlock stitch into both a constructional element and a defining design feature. The edge treatment creates a tactile quality that traditional piping cannot achieve, establishing a perfect dialogue between material and color.
From European Presidency to Public Spaces
Originally commissioned for the Swedish Presidency of the European Union in 2023 as part of “The Yellow Thread” installation in Brussels, the SKETCH series has evolved significantly to meet market demands. The new bench maintains the collection’s modular flexibility while offering additional functionality for public environments.
Improvements have been implemented throughout the series to enhance comfort, refine proportions, and optimize the linking mechanisms between modules. The SKETCH bench complements the existing armchairs and sofas, creating a comprehensive seating solution for contemporary interiors.
