Saltholm Collection

Studio Norrlandet has created the Saltholm Collection for Skargaarden, inspired by the remote Danish island between Copenhagen and Malmö.

The collection includes a sofa, lounge chair, ottoman, and lounge table, each featuring restrained teak frames balanced by curved, luxurious cushions.

The design captures Saltholm island’s paradox of seclusion existing just ten kilometers from major cities. Studio Norrlandet deliberately created comfortable, inviting pieces rather than replicating the island’s austere landscape. The curved cushions contrast with the teak frames’ clean lines, offering both visual interest and physical comfort.

Jari and Anna founded Skargaarden in 2007 and later established Studio Norrlandet. Jari’s fine carpentry training informs the collection’s precise joinery, while Anna’s background in acrylic painting contributes aesthetic sensibility. Their partnership addresses the challenge of designing outdoor furniture beautiful enough for interiors yet durable for harsh weather.

The Saltholm Sofa provides generous seating for outdoor entertaining, while the Lounge Chair offers individual comfort. The Ottoman functions as footrest and occasional seating, and the Lounge Table maintains pure geometric clarity. FSC-certified teak ensures sustainable sourcing.

The collection joins Skargaarden’s range appearing in luxury properties including Rosewood Hong Kong and Nobis Hotel Palma. Studio Norrlandet designed the Saltholm pieces for easy integration into diverse architectural contexts, suitable for both intimate urban terraces and expansive gardens.
