Background
Skargaarden was founded in 2008 in Sweden, and its furniture now furnishes a genuinely international spread of hospitality projects — Rosewood Hotels in Hong Kong, Eden Rock on St Barths, Copperhill Mountain Lodge in Åre, and the Viking Line Glory cruise ferry among them.
Design philosophy
Skargaarden collaborates with leading Scandinavian designers to craft collections that combine timeless simplicity with exceptional durability, built specifically to withstand Sweden’s dramatic coastal landscape and harsh Nordic climate. Designer Nils-Ole Zib, who has worked with the brand, sums up the house philosophy simply: good design isn’t about adding more, but about removing everything that isn’t essential.
Key collaborations
Studio Norrlandet has been Skargaarden’s most active recent collaborator, designing the Koster Collection in 2024 and the remote-archipelago-inspired Saltholm Collection the following year. Stefan Borselius designed the Böste lounge chair, an homage to the classic Westport chair built in stainless steel and FSC-certified teak. Alexander Lervik‘s Arholma collection has been part of the range since 2018, later expanded with new chairs, a table, a sofa and a sunbed.
Recent work
Andreas Engesvik named the Sundal armchair after one of his favourite places in Norway in 2024, the same year Matilda Lindblom’s Resö chair expanded into hundreds of new colourways. Per Wærn Jensen’s bird’s-nest-inspired Tira range followed in 2025, and 2026 has brought Toyine Sellers’ tailored outdoor textiles — the brand’s newest collaboration.
