Artek’s A201 is a clean-lined, stylish pendant made up of two steel cylinders and a perforated brass ring. The pendant, designed by Alvar Aalto, reflects light through both the upper and lower parts to create an effect similar to sunlight – in addition to a warm glow, the lamp provides downward illumination. The brass ring adds an elegant finishing touch while also preventing glare. Like many of Alvar Aalto’s lighting designs, A201 was designed for a specific building, namely the Säynätsalo town hall library located in Central Finland. This special black version of the A201 pendant is available exclusively from Finnish Design Shop and Artek.

Designed by Alvar Aalto in 1952, the A201 lamp made its comeback in Artek’s collection in 2019. The pendant light is now launching as a stunning special edition in black with brass accents – and it is available exclusively at Artek and Finnish Design Shop.
