Ann Idstein developed System W further in 2016
Launching a motorized version of Swiss industrial designer Christophe Marchand’s timeless design.
The advancement introduced motor operation and remote control to the adjustable textile shade system, expanding the functionality of the original cord-controlled design.
System W with motor maintains the characteristic flexibility and aesthetic lightness of Marchand’s original concept while adding automated operation. The motorized system continues to function as both sun shade and partial room divider, with textile elements that can be moved freely rather than covering the full space between floor and ceiling.
The motor advancement is available for System W1 and W2 versions. System W1 features one textile fond with motorized control, while System W2 has two textile fonds connected at a fixed distance, both operated by motor and remote control. The system is manufactured from high-quality aluminum and stainless steel components with high-end textiles. Ann Idstein, the family-owned Swedish manufacturer established in 1956, produces each motorized System W to measure from its Dalby workshop.
