Artek and the Hamburg interior studio PLY have joined forces to create the new retail concept ‘Artek in residence at PLY’.
The idea was initiated after years of intensive, creative exchange between Artek and PLY, the interior studio for furniture, light and interior design in the heart of Altona/Ottensen.
Located in a former fish smoke house, PLY displays prewar vintage originals along with modern classics by designers such as Alvar Aalto, Ilmari Tapiovaara and Jean Prouvé. For the Artek residency the showroom space was renovated and extended to include collaboration highlights such as the Stool 60 Workshop, which allows clients to customize Alvar Aalto’s Stool 60 on site, made to order after their own colour lacquer and wood stain preferences.
