Carina Seth Andersson is awarded The Prince Eugen Medal 2024

Carina Seth Andersson is a well-known designer and artist from Stockholm. She has studied at Orrefors National School of Glass and has an MFA from Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design. Since 1993 she has worked as an independent designer and is known for her distinctive glass and ceramic works. Her works are in permanent collections at prestigious institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the National Museum in Stockholm. Seth Andersson has also been a prominent teacher at Beckmans College of Design and is a board member of Capellagården on Öland.

The award was established in 1945 by King Gustaf V in honor of his brother Prins Eugen, known as the “Painter Prince”, on his 80th birthday, and rewards outstanding artistic work in visual arts, crafts and architecture. Among the glass artists and creators from Sweden and other Nordic countries who have been awarded over the years are a long list of historical names, Alvar Aalto, Sigvard Bernadotte, Tapio Wirkkala. Also Edward Hald (awarded in the premiere year 1945), Ingegerd Råman (1998), Erika Lagerbielke (2010), Ann Wåhsltröm (2019) and Ulla Forsell (2023).
