Designer Friends is a concept involving the creation of new and innovative opportunities for developing challenging and interesting projects by a select group of designers and architects. Designer Friends has most recently been joined by the London based Swedish designer duo Jimmie Martin.

The latest collaborative project with Jimmie Martin involves designing mats for a target group that appreciates design and art in more places than just on walls. The collection incorporates floor coverings from the standard Bolon collection in combinations of different colours.

The collection introduces a female design with a stylishly elegant yet provocative and sexy pattern. The idea is that the pattern invites the customer to take a closer look at its design and effect. Both companies have a dynamic and daring approach that led to a burst of creativity the moment they met.

The mats can be used both for indoor and outdoor usage as well as wall hangings.

-“Jimmie Martin represents something slightly unusual, with an exciting touch of Rock ’n’ Roll,” says Annica Eklund, CEO of Bolon.

-“We knew a relationship with Bolon was inevitable after meeting Annica and Marie. We all share the same creative determination to produce new and interesting concepts,” Jimmie and Martin explain.

The London-based furniture design company Jimmie Martin was established in 2004 by Swedish designers Jimmie Karlsson and Martin Nihlmar. Their unique brand is characterised by decadent pieces of furniture in an urban style, with each piece specially created according to the taste or liking of the customer or the inspiration of the designer. The duo has won a series of awards for their designs, including the award for best new design of the year at the British “Design and Decoration Awards”.

Bolon and Jimmie Martin have also designed unique chairs clad with Bolon material. The collection will be launched at the Milan Furniture Fair – Salone del Mobile (22-27 April). Bolon will exhibit in Milan, please visit our stand in hall 8 – F38. The collection of mats, along with the chairs, will be available for viewing on the Bolon and Jimmie Martin websites. The mats are available in sizes 190×190 cm and 160×240 cm. Other sizes are available upon request. The collection is limited and each mat will be numbered.
