Kou, Tomos, and Tomori form a decorative lighting collection designed by Jin Kuramoto for Sika Design, translating Japanese aesthetic sensibilities into woven rattan lighting.
The three distinct pendant designs explore organic forms and natural materials through Kuramoto’s minimalist design language.
Each lamp in the collection features handwoven rattan construction that creates intricate shadow patterns and warm, diffused light.
The natural material ages beautifully, developing deeper tones and character over time—embodying wabi-sabi appreciation for natural aging processes.
Jin Kuramoto, a Tokyo-based designer, brings Japanese design philosophy to international collaborations. His work emphasizes simplicity, natural materials, and forms that feel both contemporary and rooted in craft traditions, creating bridges between Japanese and Scandinavian design values.
Sika Design, a Danish company specializing in rattan furniture and lighting since 1942, maintains exceptional weaving expertise. The partnership with Kuramoto demonstrates how traditional Danish rattan craft can express diverse aesthetic voices while preserving artisanal making quality.
