PP Møbler Circle Chair Anniversary & Designs of the Time

PP Møbler marked two milestones at 3daysofdesign 2026 with an exhibition at its Flagship Store in Copenhagen, held June 10–12: the 40th anniversary of Hans J. Wegner’s pp130 Circle Chair and the 75th anniversary of the Papa Bear Chair, alongside the introduction of a new textile partner.

Wegner presented the Circle Chair in 1986 as one of his last major designs.

The exhibition traced its development from early sketches and structural questions, including whether the frame should be made in steel, through to the final laminated wooden ring that defines the chair today.

Shown alongside the Circle Chair, the Papa Bear Chair was presented in variations marking its 75th anniversary, with particular attention to its textile range. For the occasion, PP Møbler introduced Designs of the Time as a new upholstery partner. The Belgian textile house, founded in 1998 by the Puylaert family, is known for fabrics built around natural materials and a deliberately casual, untreated aesthetic. A selection of PP Møbler’s chairs was presented in fabrics from the Designs of the Time collection, demonstrating how textile choice shapes the character of a finished piece.

During the exhibition, the Flagship Store functioned as an open workshop, with live demonstrations and the chance to meet the craftspeople behind the furniture. Coffee, tea, and refreshments were served daily.
