Space is a rug collection designed by Sundling Kickén for Swedish manufacturer Ogeborg, introduced in January 2021.

The collection is inspired by unique textile patterns and surfaces, and is available in three colourways: Desert, Ivory, and Oyster.

The construction combines two different pile techniques — cut pile produced in wool and thick botanical silk, and looped pile areas produced in wool — creating a surface with distinct tactile and visual contrast between the two zones.

The material composition and construction method are central to the collection’s character. Botanical silk brings a natural sheen to the cut pile areas while the looped wool sections add textural depth and a matte quality. The result is a rug that reads differently depending on angle and light — a quality that relates directly to the collection’s name and its interest in pattern and surface.

Sundling Kickén is a Swedish design studio based in Stockholm, founded by Sara Sundling and Irina Kickén. The studio works across product design, spatial design, and graphic identity, and has collaborated with a range of Swedish and international manufacturers. Their work for Ogeborg sits within a consistent interest in material investigation and considered surface design.

Ogeborg is a Swedish rug manufacturer founded in 1967 in Tibro. The company specialises in high-quality handmade and machine-made rugs for residential and contract environments, and has an extensive catalogue of collections designed in collaboration with Swedish and international designers. Ogeborg’s production emphasises material quality and craft precision across both traditional and contemporary rug formats.
