April 21 – 26 2026 – Milan Design Week
During this year’s Milan Design Week, the Italian gallery Settantaventidue presents a unique exhibition featuring a curated selection of watercolors and drawings by Finn Juhl.
The exhibition highlights a lesser-known aspect of Finn Juhl’s practice—his work with exhibitions—offering a rare insight into the vision and spatial understanding behind his interiors.
Presented together for the first time, the works reveal his sensitivity to space, proportion, and light, as well as his ability to let furniture define the atmosphere of a room.
Set within the gallery’s spaces along the Navigli canals, the exhibition is accompanied by a series of live concerts, further enriching the dialogue between space, sound, and visual form.
Dates: April 21–26, 2026
Opening hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Location: Settantaventidue, Via Lodovico Il Moro 1, Milan

Finn Juhl is widely regarded as one of the most significant designers and architects of the twentieth century, and among the very few who succeeded in establishing an international reputation at an early stage in his career.
In the early 1950s—at a moment when Scandinavian design was emerging onto the international stage—Juhl had already assumed a leading role. He was responsible for the design of the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the UN Headquarters in New York, and in 1951 he was entrusted with the conception and design of the annual Good Design exhibition at the MOMA in New York. This major international showcase of Scandinavian design brought together the most prominent Danish designers of the period, yet the overall exhibition design itself was conceived and orchestrated by Finn Juhl.
Three years later, when the Tenth Triennale opened its doors in Milan, Juhl was once again invited to lead the design and spatial orchestration of the Danish Pavilion.
Throughout his career, Finn Juhl’s research was consistently centered on organic, sinuous forms. Working in a pre-digital era, he developed his projects through an exceptionally refined drawing practice. His designs were rendered through a sophisticated watercolor technique that conveyed, with remarkable sensitivity, the sculptural character and volumetric presence of his furniture.
