Greenhouse is Stockholm Furniture Fair’s dedicated platform for emerging designers, serving as a springboard for up-and-coming talents shaping the tomorrow. The 2025 exhibitors celebrate sustainability, ancient craftmanship, and cultural expression. Designers present unique projects that challenge conventions through innovative materials, methods, and narratives. Greenhouse 2025 also features 20 design and architecture schools, a design bar by the studio All Matters and the Young Swedish Design exhibition by Svensk Form.
“This year’s Greenhouse designers are distinguished by their strong sense of innovation. Many projects explore unexpected material combinations and production methods, resulting in visually and conceptually surprising pieces. Soft textiles meet hard, industrial materials, and organic materials are combined with technologically advanced elements. This creativity creates new visual and tactile dimensions that surprise and inspire. Greenhouse not only presents new perspectives but also connects these talents with industry leaders, shaping the design landscape of tomorrow,” says Anya Sebton, renowned designer and Greenhouse jury chair.
Redefining ancient crafts
London-based designer Mingyu Xu makes his Greenhouse debut with his latest furniture and lighting collection, Parallel. The collection showcases the versatility of bamboo weaving while redefining its aesthetic and regenerative qualities for sustainable, contemporary design. By exploring new possibilities for bamboo, it brings a traditional craft back into modern interiors.
“I have been focusing on refreshing traditions. The Parallel collection is an exploration and modern interpretation of traditional bamboo weaving, resulting in a simple yet unexpected aesthetic,” says Mingyu Xu.
“Stockholm Furniture Fair is one of the most influential furniture fairs in the world and a future-oriented platform. Sweden’s commitment to sustainability attracts me. Both brands and designers continuously explore environmentally friendly materials and methods. It is a destination that future designers cannot miss,” Xu adds.
Drawing from Nigerian heritage, OMI Collective also reinterprets traditional craft through contemporary design. At Greenhouse 2025, the studio presents a series that blends hand-carved timber and bronze hardware, using traditional Benin craftmanship, while reimagining these forms for contemporary living.
“Omi is derived from the Yoruba word for water. This fluidity reflects our practice, where we create furniture and collectible objects by investigating age-old formal compositions and craft practices in Nigeria. The result of combining these practices with contemporary production methods is always unpredictable. Yet, within this exploration, we aim to redefine beauty by embracing both the old and new, creating objects that serve as conduits for knowledge exchange,” saysOlorunfemi Adewuyi.
“Being selected by the Greenhouse jury affirms that OMI’s pieces bring an interesting perspective to the global design discourse while remaining rooted in and inspired by our heritage in Africa,” he adds.
Pioneering bio-based design
Founded by designers Kirstine Nørgaard Sejersen and Jón Hinrik Höskuldsson, Denmark-based Bundle Studio focuses on sustainable material innovation. Their featured project is a stacking chair made from bio-based composites like flax fibres and PLA. The studio’s work merges Sejersen’s expertise in material-driven design and experimental methods with Höskuldsson’s background in carpentry and furniture design.
“We founded our studio to dive deeper into the exploration of bio-based materials. We believe designers must redefine material use for sustainability, and we aim to create functional, aesthetically pleasing products that push the boundaries of sustainable materials and inspire industry change. At Stockholm Furniture Fair, we will present our findings from a material driven and experimental design process that focused on exploring the potential of bio-based composites in furniture design. The findings are presented in a stacking chair made entirely of flax fibres and bioplastic,” say Sejersen and Höskuldsson.
Intuition meets industrial production
Roosa Ryhänen is a Helsinki-based designer with experience across multiple disciplines. Her recent collection arises from the idea “form follows intuitions” and explores how intuition can manifest in industrially produced objects.
“At Greenhouse, I am presenting a collection of furniture inspired by the irregularities and unique character of handmade objects. By using CNC-milling, I aim to explore how spontaneity and intuition can exist in industrially produced objects,” says Roosa Ryhänen.
Greenhouse is also an important platform for design and architecture schools, featuring not only prestigious Swedish institutions such as Konstfack, Beckmans, KTH Navet, Malmstens Linköping University, HDK Valand at the University of Gothenburg, but also new names like the Norwegian Lagvis or the Fay Jones School of Architecture in the USA.
”En Bar Bara” – by All Matters Studio
This year’s Greenhouse bar, a creation of All Matters Studio, exemplifies the intersection of artistry and functionality. The multidisciplinary design studio, renowned for crafting exclusive furniture that matter, extends its vision to the realm of olfactory artistry through En Doft™, a brand that is also participating in Stockholm Design Week 2025.
In collaboration with Bolon, All Matters Studio has designed the Greenhouse bar (En Bar Bara) as a bistro venue, serving not only as a convivial gathering space but also as a sanctuary for well-deserved break.
Young Swedish Design by Svensk Form
The Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design) exhibition returns to Stockholm Furniture Fair, taking centre stage at Greenhouse. Ung Svensk Form is an annual award and exhibition showcasing the exciting Swedish design scene, under the auspices of Svensk Form (the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design).
From applications across Sweden, a selection of 25 contributions is presented in Ung Svensk Form 2025. Visitors will experience a diversity of expressions and perspectives, from design innovations to in-depth socio-cultural analyses. The exhibition is designed to inspire and engage, encouraging discussion about our shared future.
“This exhibition offers a rich and dynamic experience for anyone interested in understanding and shaping the future of Swedish design,” says Björn Nordin, CEO Svensk Form.
The exhibition concept Annual Rings, designed by Matti Klenell, redefines touring exhibitions through sustainability. This adaptable, layered display grows with each setup, merging tradition and future. Built to be reused and redefined, its knotty spruce and annual shifting gray tones tell a timeless story.
Greenhouse x Sight Unseen
Sight Unseen returns in 2025 to jury and present the Greenhouse Best in Show award, with winners receiving a feature on their platform. The collaboration between Sight Unseen and Stockholm Furniture Fair was initiated at the 2024 fair, where designers Siri Svedborg and Adrian Bursell received the award.
Greenhouse designers are also offered one year of mentoring from prominent design professionals. In 2025, the mentors are Emma Marga Blanche (Färg & Blanche), Daniel Enoksson (Daniel Enoksson Studio), Helene Ogeborg (Ogeborg) Jonas Wagell (JWDA), and Simon Anund (VERK).
Greenhouse jury 2025
The 2025 Greenhouse jury consists of designers Anya Sebton, Ruxandra Halleröd (Halleroed), Fredrik Paulsen (Joy Objects), Kristoffer Fagerström (Note Design Studio), and Alexander Lervik, as well as former Greenhouse project manager Jennifer Gröhn.
Stockholm Furniture Fair is held February 4-8 and Stockholm Design Week is held February 3-9, 2025.
