Brdr. Krüger marks 140 years with limited anniversary edition of Hans Bølling's Tray Table

The modern classic from 1963 remains unchanged. Instead, a new material composition combining two treatments of oak creates a dialogue between past and present. The table becomes a quiet expression of Brdr. Krüger’s evolution as a family-owned Danish furniture maker, with enduring design, quality and materials at its core.

The light, oiled oak highlights the material’s warm character, while the darker, fumed oak creates a complementary and playful contrast. The dark tone is achieved through a traditional fuming process that reacts naturally with the tannins in the oak, without the use of dye or stain.

The light and dark tones are not opposites, but different expressions of the same material, connecting what came before with what comes next.

The 140 Remix Edition is released in a limited run of 140 individually numbered pieces.

An expression of tradition and evolution

Hans Bølling’s relationship with Brdr. Krüger has spanned three generations of the family and is shaped by a shared understanding of craftsmanship, proportion and wood.

Today, this dialogue continues with the fifth generation, siblings Julie and Jonas Krüger, who are leading the company into its next chapter while preserving the close relationship between design, material and making that has defined Brdr. Krüger since 1886.

“140 Remix Edition is a tribute to our traditions and, at the same time, an interpretation of them in a contemporary context. For us, tradition is only alive when it remains in dialogue with its time,” says Jonas Krüger, Head of Design and fifth generation at Brdr. Krüger.
