The Cap stool by Axel Bjurström and Mia Cullin
For Swedish manufacturer Materia takes its shape from an unexpected source: the humble sewing thimble.
The result is a compact, lightweight stool equally at home beside a workstation, in a meeting room, or in a lounge setting.
Weighing little and featuring a distinctly sculpted profile, Cap moves easily around the workplace — ready wherever an extra seat is needed. The stool stacks efficiently, and an optional trolley accommodates up to ten units at a time.
The frame is made from compression-moulded polyester felt, with a ring of injection-moulded polypropylene available in a range of colours. Cap also comes fully upholstered in Remix fabric from Kvadrat, giving specifiers access to a broad colour palette suited to varied interiors.
Axel Bjurström runs a Stockholm-based studio working across furniture, interior architecture, and industrial design. Mia Cullin, born in Lund in 1970, studied in Sweden, Italy, and Denmark before establishing a practice recognised for precise, material-driven work. Both designers have maintained a long collaboration with Materia, a Swedish manufacturer based in Tranås known for ergonomic and acoustic workplace solutions.
