Cell and Soft – Alternative Artefacts Danto
Alternative Artefacts Danto launches new tile collections in Japan by Claesson Koivisto Rune (Cell and Soft) and Swedish designer Ingegerd Råman (Da Capo and Tile in Number). A.a. Danto is the design-led brand of Danto, a Japanese ceramics manufacturer based on Awaji Island since 1885. Both designers’ collections were first presented in Europe during 3daysofdesign 2026 in Copenhagen. Claesson Koivisto Rune’s porcelain tiles work with rhythm, texture and modular composition and have softly curved corners. Råman’s tiles reflect her attention to proportion, light and material.

The studio describes it as “a friendly reminder from nature in three sizes.” A finely crafted wooden structure supports a padding that is firm yet soft. Uno was first created for the Amundsen whisky bar at Grand Hotel Terminus in Bergen, which Claesson Koivisto Rune renovated. It comes in diameters of 50, 65 and 94 cm.
