Henning Larsen Architects’ Ekko Chair for Brdr. Krüger Grows into a Full Collection
Architecture-born seating refined for hospitality, contract and residential interiors
Copenhagen, 25 March 2026 — Danish furniture maker Brdr. Krüger, in collaboration with Henning Larsen Architects, introduces two new editions of the Ekko Chair: a refined veneer version and a fully upholstered version.

Originally developed for Højvangen, the Ekko Chair now expands into a cohesive collection designed for hospitality, cultural, workplace and residential environments.
Rooted in architectural thinking, Ekko translates principles of repetition, proportion and spatial logic into a clear, functional form — echoing the structural rhythm of columns and beams. The name Ekko derives from this idea, referring to a spatial and temporal resonance — an echo between architecture and furniture, past and present. The original woven-webbing seat established the chair’s structural identity; the new editions extend this language into refined finishes and increased comfort while maintaining stackability and suitability for high-traffic use.

Design, Materials and Craft
Ekko is defined by a disciplined repetition of structural elements, translating architectural proportion into human scale.
Veneer edition: A continuous, graphic surface created through book-matched veneers and precise grain selection, forming a unified plane that emphasises the chair’s silhouette.
Upholstered edition: A slim, integrated cushion shaped for ergonomic support, softening the expression while preserving the chair’s geometric clarity and stackability.
All versions are handcrafted in Denmark at Brdr. Krüger’s workshops, combining CNC precision with traditional joinery and hand-finishing. Standard finishes include oiled oak and fumed oiled oak. Upholstery is offered in Sørensen Leather Spectrum (Almond, code 30150), with additional bespoke textiles and leathers available upon request. Each chair is made to order to ensure consistency in finish and specification.
Durability and Sustainability
The Ekko Chair meets EN 16139 — L2 (Suitable for professional, high-traffic and non-domestic environments) and is supported by durability testing. A verified carbon emissions report is included in the press kit. The design prioritises longevity, repairability and responsible material use.

Quotes
“Ekko began as a conversation between architecture and furniture. These new editions deepen that dialogue, maintaining structural clarity while expanding relevance for hospitality, workspace and conference environments.” — Jonas Krüger, Creative Director, Brdr. Krüger
“People often say simplicity is the hardest to achieve, and that was certainly our experience with the Ekko Chair.” — Anders Astrup Andersen, Senior Designer, Henning Larsen Architects
