Iittala has reissued the Kartio 220 mm vase by Kaj Franck in three colourways: clear glass, linen and rose.
Originally designed in 1958, the Kartio collection remains one of the most enduring expressions of Finnish design — a study in pure form and the balance between geometry and material.
Each vase is mouth-blown, giving the glass a refined clarity that amplifies the precision of Franck’s geometry.

The clear glass version presents the Kartio form at its most honest, placing the focus entirely on arrangement. Linen introduces a warm, natural tone that suits a wide range of interiors, while rose — a seasonal offering — adds a soft, uplifting quality well suited to cut flowers.
The Kartio 220 mm vase’s well-proportioned height and gently narrowed waist make flower arranging effortless, whether working with a few branches or a fuller bouquet.
Kaj Franck (1911–1989) is widely regarded as the conscience of Finnish design. His career was guided by a pursuit of the essential — an ongoing study of basic forms with a particular focus on proportions. Where others worked with elaborate services, Franck sought versatility and democratic utility, using serial production to bring carefully designed, practical objects within reach.
The Kartio collection, launched in 1958, reflects this philosophy: no excess, no ornament — only the form required to fulfil its function with grace.
