Mottowasabi’s Torii Lounge for Vivero Combines Japanese Gate Forms with Nordic Woodworking
Mottowasabi has designed the Torii Lounge chair for Finnish manufacturer Vivero, inspired by traditional Japanese temple gates. The solid wood chair merges Japanese architectural forms with Finnish woodworking traditions.
Available in oak, birch, or ash, the lounge chair measures 590mm wide, 690mm high, and 620mm deep. The Helsinki-based design studio, founded by Anna Salonen and Yuki Abe, specializes in furniture that blends Japanese aesthetics with Nordic design principles.
The Torii collection will expand to include chairs, benches, and tables, offering versatile solutions for various interiors. Vivero manufactures all pieces in Finland from its Helsinki Arabia district location.
