Playful Poufs by Sami Kallio
Artu Furniture presents The Family, a collection of poufs designed by Finnish designer Sami Kallio for the 2026 season.
The collection explores how ordinary seating objects can be reimagined and adapted for different settings and purposes, resulting in a range that feels both functional and full of character.
The Family includes several distinct pieces, each enhanced with unique features that define its function. The collection comprises a pouf-chair for comfortable seating, a pouf-table that combines surface and soft seating, a pouf-hanger for practical storage integration, and a classic pouf. Each piece combines minimalistic Scandinavian forms with solid wood details and vibrant color finishes, creating furniture that works across hospitality, office, and residential interiors.
Sami Kallio brings a distinctive perspective to furniture design. Finnish-born and raised in Sweden, he developed an appreciation for woodworking early in his career, mastering techniques including compression moulding and woodturning. Working from his Gothenburg-based studio, Kallio has built a reputation for creating furniture and interiors that fuse Scandinavian tradition with a modern industrial edge. His designs reinterpret classic forms in ways that feel both familiar and forward-looking.
Kallio’s creative process bridges craftsmanship and technology. By combining precise industrial production with the sensitivity of hand-finished detail, he creates pieces that embody a dialogue between heritage and innovation. This approach aligns with Artu Furniture’s philosophy of merging traditional materials with contemporary production methods.
Based in Poland, Artu Furniture works with an international design team to create furniture for the HoReCa segment and office environments. The company uses primarily hardwood and metal in their production, with emphasis on ergonomic features and structural reliability. Each year, Artu’s engineers collaborate with industrial designers to develop new models that balance aesthetic appeal with practical functionality, ensuring their products meet the demands of professional and residential spaces worldwide.
