Between series by Sami Kallio

Prompted by the success of his forward-thinking and timeless In Between series, designer Sami Kallio expands the collection with the addition of a new conference table model and the introduction of a Verde Guatemala marble finish for select variants.

Maintaining the same sophisticated and minimalist aesthetic, the conference table significantly expands the formerly, largest table in the collection.

Starting at 3m in length, the table can be chosen in any length up to 5m. Stretching between 0.9m and 1.2m in width, it is also possible to integrate a convenient cable management system to maintain tidy and more organised workspaces. Rich in colour and materiality, Verde Guatemala offers a timeless finish option to &Tradition’s existing portfolio of In Between round table variants. This versatile option is suitable for both high-traffic areas and quieter residential homes. Due to the natural qualities of the stone, no two tables are alike – instead, the distinct patterns of each slab signify the material’s organic composition.

The concept of Kallio’s In Between range revolves around the function of positive and negative space. What started with a series of chairs, naturally progressed into a series of tables where the positive space is lean and elongated. “I wanted to see what happens to a surface volume and its relationship to space,” explains Kallio. The result is a supremely simple table, which succeeds to not impose on its environment. “The lack of details removes any reference to passing trends and allows the table to fit into any modern setting, transcending time,” adds Kallio.

A master of traditional woodworking techniques rooted in his Nordic heritage, Kallio has achieved a remarkable balance between two techniques: compression moulding to make the table light and slim yet sturdy, and woodturning, which involves using a lathe to finesse fine details.
