Allié is a two-in-one design — both a stool and an occasional table condensed into a small object with a ton of character

A totem of bold aesthetic, hands resting firmly on its hips. Entirely moulded in polyurethane foam, the base and the top are linked together by two metal handles, delivering a robust structure that is also easier to move around. The matt material of the main body contrasts with the metal finish of the handles, while the contemporary palette of colours underscores the fun, playful spirit of a design that will follow you both inside and outside.

“I wanted to design a portable/multifunctional object that would have a lot of character and could be used both indoors and outdoors. So when I started thinking about it and picturing the design, the first image that popped into my head was my grandmother Silvana calling my name “Lucaaaaaa!!!!!”. Growing up in Murano, I used to go out and play in the ‘calle’ (alley) near my grandparents’ house, and whenever my grandmother wanted me to come home for lunch or dinner, she would step outside, stand on the porch with her hands on her hips and call out my name… That was the first indoor/outdoor experience of my life. ‘Allié’ is a tribute to my grandmother, who loved me very much, and whom I loved just as.

Luca Nichetto
Italian designer Luca Nichetto was born in Murano. In 2006, he established his own studio in Venice, which specialised in industrial design and design consulting. In 2011, Nichetto opened a second studio in Stockholm, where he now works and resides.

A mix of Italian and Swedish influences resulted in a unique design language that celebrates the duality of these two cultures.

Luca Nichetto was born in Venice in 1976. He studied at the IUAV, the Venice University Institute of Architecture, from which he graduated in industrial design. In 1999, he started his career designing his first projects for Salviati using Murano glass. He went on to collaborate with Foscarini as a designer and consultant. Throughout his career, Nichetto has served as Art Director for a number of international design brands. His passion for the industry and passing on knowledge have led him to become a lecturer and lead workshops in several universities. He has also sat on the jury of various international design contests. Nichetto’s works have been exhibited all over the world and have been the subject of several retrospectives in cities like Venice, London, Paris and Stockholm. He has received many international design awards for his innovative and extensive projects, ranging from products and accessories to furniture, as well as for his architectural work and exhibition designs.
