Big Arm seating system by Färg & Blanche for Essentia

Big Arm marks the first collaboration with Essentia and was developed for the brand’s 2026 collection.

The seating collection was first presented as part of FÄRG & BLANCHE solo exhibition: Armour mon Amour during Milan Design Week 2017, where its distinctive character and generous proportions were introduced.

Characterised by pronounced arm and back elements and generous volumes, Big Arm combines a strong visual identity with an inviting and comfortable presence.

The design explores proportion and repetition, forming a family of seating elements that can be used individually or combined into larger compositions. Soft, rounded forms and clearly defined segments give the collection a sculptural quality, while the low seating height creates a relaxed and informal way of sitting.

Big Arm emerged from the broader conceptual framework of Armour mon Amour, where Färg & Blanche explored themes of protection, strength, and softness through furniture and objects inspired by historical armour and organic structures. In Big Arm, these ideas are translated into upholstery, where the exaggerated arms and backrests evoke both support and shelter. The collection includes armchairs, sofas, and ottomans designed to work together as a modular landscape. When grouped, the elements form a rhythmic composition that allows space to be shaped rather than simply filled. Produced by Essentia, Big Arm transforms an experimental exhibition piece into a refined seating system, balancing expressive form with everyday comfort and use.
