Nomono Conference and T Work Desk: Fredrik Mattson’s Enduring Office Furniture
Swedish furniture manufacturer Horreds introduced the Nomono Conference meeting table and Nomono T Work Desk in 2004, both designed by Fredrik Mattson.
Twenty years after their initial launch, these office furniture systems continue to serve contemporary workspaces through their emphasis on functional design and material durability.

The Nomono Conference meeting table addresses varied workspace requirements through multiple height configurations. Fredrik Mattson’s design offers tables at 73cm, 90cm, and 106cm heights, supporting seated meetings, project work, and standing conferences. The table construction uses 38mm MDF with 90-degree corners and straight matching edging, creating defined geometric forms suitable for professional environments.
Nomono Conference tables accommodate different spatial requirements through five length options (160cm, 180cm, 200cm, 220cm, and 240cm) and multiple depth specifications (70cm, 80cm, 90cm, 100cm, and 110cm). The 70cm depth option applies exclusively to the 90cm and 106cm height variants. This dimensional range allows organizations to specify tables matching specific room proportions and meeting group sizes.
Material selections for Nomono Conference include white laminate, oak veneers in natural and white pigmented finishes, and ash veneers across an extended palette: natural, white pigmented, black stained, dark stained, Burgundy stained, Conifer stained, and Smokey Blue stained. Horreds offers three cable management accessories: Bibox cable lid, Powerdot PD14, and Powerdot PD61, addressing power distribution requirements in meeting settings.
The Nomono T Work Desk incorporates height-adjustable functionality through electric legs with integrated anti-collision technology. The T-stand configuration creates visual lightness while supporting desk surfaces ranging from 61cm to 126cm in height. Fredrik Mattson’s design integrates cable management through built-in cable boxes and optional cable socks, concealing wiring infrastructure while maintaining accessibility.
Nomono T construction specifies 19mm MDF with straight matching edging and zero corner radius, establishing crisp linear edges. Seven desk sizes accommodate individual workspace preferences: 2000×900mm, 2000×800mm, 1800×900mm, 1800×800mm, 1600×900mm, 1600×800mm, and 1400×800mm. The milled hand control touchpad integrates into the right side of the tabletop surface, eliminating external control boxes.
Desktop material options mirror the Nomono Conference palette: veneers in oak, ash, white pigmented oak, white pigmented ash, black stained ash, dark stained ash, Burgundy stained ash, Conifer stained ash, and Smokey Blue stained ash; laminates in white, light grey, medium grey, anthracite, and black; and Forbo desktop surfaces in Ash, Burgundy, Charcoal, Mauve, Conifer, Pebble, Mushroom, Vapour, Smokey Blue, and Olive.
The electric stand comes in white RAL9016 or black RAL9005 finishes with solid feet providing stability during height transitions. Optional cable lids use matching desktop materials with polished MDF edges. Desk screens extending 450mm above the work surface come in various fabric specifications, allowing acoustic and visual customization.
Horreds holds Möbelfakta certification for the Nomono T Work Desk, documenting compliance with Swedish standards for quality, environmental performance, and social responsibility in furniture manufacturing. This certification addresses procurement requirements for organizations prioritizing verified sustainability credentials.
Fredrik Mattson’s design approach for both Nomono systems emphasizes geometric clarity and material honesty. The full sides and fixed horizontals of Nomono Conference create balanced proportions, while the T-stand of Nomono T reduces visual mass. Optional Nomono storage units add mobility to the work desk system, supporting flexible workspace reconfigurations.
The twenty-year production history of these systems demonstrates Horreds’ commitment to maintaining designs that continue meeting workplace requirements across changing office trends. The “furniture for generations” philosophy materializes through designs intended for long-term use and future reuse rather than trend-driven obsolescence.
