Woodnotes has introduced a Magazine Rack designed by Raffaella Mangiarotti and Ilkka Suppanen
— a considered storage piece that applies the Finnish manufacturer’s characteristic material language to a domestic utility object.
The rack consists of an oak frame — available in natural or black — with a bag of woven paper yarn fabric that holds newspapers and magazines.
Paper yarn is the material Woodnotes is most closely associated with: a textile produced by twisting paper into a thread, used across the brand’s carpet and furniture range for its combination of tactile quality, structural integrity, and a characteristically Nordic restraint. The Magazine Rack brings that material into a small-scale, everyday object.
The bag is available in several colours, allowing the piece to be specified to match or complement existing Woodnotes textiles or other interior choices. The overall object is compact and functional without being purely utilitarian — consistent with the design approach Mangiarotti and Suppanen have established across their shared work for Woodnotes, which includes the Siro chair, Siro bar stool, and Twiggy side table.
Raffaella Mangiarotti and Ilkka Suppanen have collaborated extensively with Woodnotes since the mid-2010s, developing furniture and objects that extend the Finnish brand’s product range beyond its core carpet offering. The Magazine Rack continues that trajectory — a small object that carries the same material rigour as the larger pieces in the collection.
