Woodnotes presents the My lounge chair family, designed by Ulla Koskinen
Described by Koskinen as “like a hug,” My is a soft, frameless lounge chair designed for casual, relaxed seating.
Its amorphous tetrahedral form makes it equally at home in residential interiors, hotel lobbies, and public spaces.
The My family includes three sizes: Mini My, suited also for children; My, the medium chair; and Roo, the larger divan-like version intended for full recline. The cover on all models is fully removable and exchangeable. The standard Sand fabric is a blend of 70% paper yarn and 30% cotton — dustless, antistatic, and treated with soil-repellent finish. A Rest fabric option in striped recycled materials designed by Tanja Sipilä and Mari Isopahkala is also available. For outdoor use, the Saimaa fabric (100% polypropylene) is resistant to moisture, UV, saltwater, and chlorinated pool water. The filling consists of a mixture of polystyrene, foam, and silicone fibre engineered to retain its shape over time.
My and Roo received the Interior Innovation Award at the International IMM Cologne Furnishing Fair in 2009.
Ulla Koskinen is a Finnish designer who studied textile and clothing design at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. She is a key member of the Woodnotes Design Team and has also worked with Artek, Durat, Kannustalo, and Marimekko. Koskinen describes her design approach as seeking the internal rhythm of a space and its full range of functions, from activity to relaxation, without imposing a signature style.
Woodnotes was founded in 1987 by textile artist Ritva Puotila and her son Mikko Puotila with the ambition of creating modern design from durable, ecological paper yarn. The company is based in Helsinki, Finland.
