The Pelagus series brings spaces to life with a minimalist contemporary aesthetic and enduring, highest-quality materials, as lightweight powder-coated aluminium meets our signature teak wood.
Developed in collaboration with Note Design Studio, renowned for creating products with a holistic vision that considers each piece within its functional, aesthetic and spatial context, the line extension sees four new tables and a counter and a bar stool added to the existing collection. With a visually light, forward-looking design that echoes Scandinavian minimalist aesthetics for outdoors, the series emphasises not just function but placement, ensuring each piece resonates with its environment.
“From the beginning, our goal has been to create a long-lasting collection with a broader international perspective, moving beyond the traditional Scandinavian outdoor aesthetic. We aimed for a look that feels confident and distinct, yet harmonious with its surroundings—pieces that enhance a space without overwhelming it,” shares Note Design Studio.
Designed for both residential and hospitality settings, the new pieces are cohesive and confident. Intentional in its simplicity, the collection’s clean lines and expansive wooden surfaces enhance any space without overpowering it. The fusion of teak, metal and sling textile lends global appeal, balancing lightness, warmth and durability to age gracefully and retain character across settings. “Furniture should seamlessly blend into any environment without overwhelming it,” Note Design Studio explains, “additionally, it should have an international appeal, allowing it to fit in beautifully in any location around the world.”
The square table, compact enough for residential use, comfortably seats two to four diners, perfect for morning coffees in the sun or evening sundowners. A circular café-style table made with hospitality settings in mind is crafted from powder-coated aluminium for enduring quality and features a slatted teak top and a functional hook underneath—ideal for securing furniture after closing hours or hanging coats and bags. Available in three heights and flat-packed for easy transport, it exemplifies flexibility, allowing seamless integration into different environments.
The bar and counter chairs are designed for outdoor kitchens and bar areas, stackable up to four for easy storage. Each features a teak foot bar that protects the powder coating on the footrest, adding stability and comfort while enhancing the overall aesthetic. Cushions, available separately in outdoor fabric, are tailored to fit the chairs perfectly, providing an added layer of comfort. Commenting on the new additions to the Pelagus series, Fritz Hansen’s Design Director Christian Andresen says, “Extending Pelagus allows us to introduce versatile options that retain the series’ elegant simplicity while maximising its potential across different environments. Each piece is crafted to bring spaces to life in a way that’s effortlessly inviting and enduring.”
