Beak Chair design by Ole Wanscher with upholstery in New Zealand lambskin – Carl Hansen & Søn

WITH ITS EXPRESSIVE SILHOUETTE AND DISTINCTIVE ARMRESTS, OLE WANSCHER’S OW124 BEAK CHAIR FROM 1951 IS A SCULPTURAL PIECE THAT EXEMPLIFIES HIS REFINED FURNITURE DESIGN AND EXQUISITE CRAFTSMANSHIP.

Carl Hansen & Son is launching the Beak Chair with upholstery in New Zealand lambskin. This variant is particularly soft and warm, ideal for a cosy moment by the fireplace on a cold winter’s day.

The chair is an elegant example of Ole Wanscher’s sculptural design and carpentry of the highest level – thanks to the unique armrests that are reminiscent of a bird’s beak, which inspired the chair’s name: the Beak Chair.

ABOUT THE DESIGN
Throughout his career, Ole Wanscher was inspired by English furniture from the 18th century, and he developed a wide range of furniture with elements that embodied details from this period. He cultivated resilient shapes with slim dimensions, as seen in the Beak Chair. Ole Wanscher’s furniture is classic and thoroughly modern at the same time – a combination that makes his works sought-after collectors’ items worldwide.
