HAVA Grand Cabinet

HAVA Single Cabinet
The HAVA Single Cabinet, a masterpiece by celebrated designer Jonas Bohlin, presents a more compact yet equally impressive expression of Scandinavian design excellence. This cabinet brings the same exceptional craftsmanship as its larger counterpart in a more versatile form.
Crafted with precision from the finest Swedish pinewood and birch, this cabinet celebrates the natural beauty of Nordic materials. Each piece is individually hand-painted with a specially formulated mixture of pigments and linseed oil, creating a unique finish that enhances the wood’s natural grain and texture.
The carefully selected brass handles add a touch of understated elegance, perfectly complementing the cabinet’s refined silhouette. With dimensions of 153 cm high, 37 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, the HAVA Single Cabinet offers practical storage while maintaining a slender profile ideal for smaller spaces or as a companion piece to the Grand Cabinet.

Both HAVA cabinets are among the first pieces designed by Jonas Bohlin and produced by Ingridsdotter in Stockholm. They represent a celebration of Swedish materials and artisanal techniques, with each cabinet being a unique work of functional art that will enhance any interior with its timeless presence and authentic character.
The expression of the blue color and the visible wood pattern will – like the appearance of the sea – always be ever-changing. (Sea in Swedish is ”hav”, in a feminine form we add an ”-a” = HAVA).
Through a collaboration between NK Interior and the new design brand Ingridsdotter, a selection of Bohlin’s celebrated design objects will be made available to the public and sold exclusively at NK in autumn 2022.
About Jonas Bohlin: Breaking Boundaries While Maintaining Connections
Jonas Bohlin’s journey as a pioneering force in Swedish design began at Konstfack, The National College of Art, Craft and Design in Stockholm, where he graduated in 1981. His provocative graduation piece—the now-iconic Concrete chair—immediately established him as a designer who would challenge conventions by juxtaposing raw industrial materials with elegant forms.
Born in Stockholm in 1953, Bohlin has consistently crossed boundaries between design, art, and architecture without sacrificing functionality or purpose. This distinctive approach has earned him prestigious recognitions including the Bruno Mathsson Prize (2014), the Prince Eugen Medal (2014), and the Golden Chair at the Architecture Gala (2016). He also served as professor at Konstfack from 2004 to 2009.
Throughout his distinguished career, Bohlin has created numerous pieces that have become landmarks in Swedish furniture design. From the zinc floor shelf Zink (1984) to the Slottsbacken cabinet (1987), the LIV collection (1997), the Kvist lamp (1999), and the Vilda chair (2010)—each work demonstrates his masterful balance of aesthetic innovation and functional integrity.
Beyond furniture design, Bohlin has transformed Stockholm’s urban landscape through his restaurant interiors for iconic establishments like Rolfs Kök, Sturehof, and Riche, as well as architectural projects including weather shelters for Stockholm’s tramways and his own award-winning house Ängsvillan.
