The Vilda chair for Gemla designed by Jonas Bohlin.
VILDA combines the purest forms of bent wood with a contemporary expression.
The classic café chair in a modern design, where the natural bent wood meets the vegetable tanned leather.
VILDA has been praised worldwide for its unique design, and is today represented in several award winning restaurant interiors.
Appreciated both for its lightness and high seat comfort. The solid bent wood makes VILDA very strong and durable, built to last for generations.
VILDA 2 is made in solid bent beech or ash, backrest swaddled in vegetable tanned leather. Wooden seat dressed in tooling leather in matching color. Additional soft padded seat with upholstery leather on request. A slight difference in texture and color occurs between tooling leather and upholstery leather.

The Vilda chair is perhaps the most iconic collaboration between the rebellious Swedish designer Jonas Bohlin and Gemla, Sweden’s oldest furniture manufacturer. Launched in 2012, Vilda was instrumental in bringing Gemla’s traditional steam-bending techniques into the world of contemporary high-end design.
The Art of Steam-Bending
The soul of Vilda lies in its construction. Gemla is the only factory in Sweden that still masters the art of bending solid wood using steam.
-
The Frame: Each chair is crafted from solid beech, bent by hand into a continuous, flowing arc. This process makes the wood incredibly strong yet flexible.
-
The “Bohlin” Signature: Jonas Bohlin took the traditional café chair (think Thonet) and “deconstructed” it. By adding a vegetable-tanned leather back-strap and a thick leather seat, he gave the chair a rugged, almost equestrian character that is distinctly his own.
