HERITAGE IN RICH COLOURS

For the first time, the original PH series, here including the PH 2/1 Table Lamp and the PH 3/2 Table Lamp, as designed by Poul Henningsen, now come with coloured stem and base.

The PH 2/1 Table Lamp and the PH 3/2 Table Lamp will launch in four colour finishes, Glossy Beige, Glossy Burgundy, Glossy Deep Blue, and Glossy Deep Green.

The new colours bring a contemporary expression to the heritage design, through a refined and understated palette that remains true to its origins, allowing the lamps to integrate seamlessly into modern homes and interiors.

The design of the table lamps is based on the celebrated System PH, developed by Poul Henningsen in 1926 to offer excellent, non-glaring light. The timeless character of the rich colours emphasises the heritage design and creates an interesting interplay with the soft, harmonious and comfortable light distribution from the mouth-blown, three-layer opal glass shades, glossy on the outer sider, sandblasted matte on the inner side, which primarily directs the light downwards.

The new coloured versions of the PH 2/1 Table Lamp and the PH 3/2 Table Lamp have been slightly updated through a series of small adjustments to improve versatility and durability, from the beautiful fabric cord to the improved bottom base. All, subtle improvements for higher quality feeling and easier maintenance.

POUL HENNINGSEN

The highly influential Danish architect and cultural critic, Poul Henningsen (1894-1967), has had a huge impact on Danish thinking and design. His legacy as the original master of light is an integrated part of Louis Poulsen’s heritage of creating exceptional light.

Poul Henningsen started practicing traditional functionalist architecture, but over the years his professional interests shifted to primarily focus on lighting, for which he is most famous. He also expanded his field of occupation into areas of writing, becoming a journalist and an author.

His lifelong collaboration with Louis Poulsen began in 1924 and lasted until his passing. To this day, Louis Poulsen still benefits from his genius and continues his heritage working to provide exceptional, glare-free light.

In fact, Poul Henningsen’s pioneering work concerning the relationship between light, shadows, glare, and colour reproduction – compared to the human need for light, laid the foundation of the lighting philosophy still practiced by Louis Poulsen.
