Iris is a textile developed in collaboration between Form Us With Love and ByBorre. The design builds on one of ByBorre’s signature micro-pattern systems, translating it into a refined knitted structure that creates optical color blending through construction rather than print.

The textile is designed for high-performance upholstery use in interior environments. Its structure allows for subtle shifts in tone and depth depending on scale and perspective, while maintaining the durability required for workplace applications.

The collaboration reflects a shared focus on material-led design, where textile systems are developed as an integrated part of product and spatial thinking.

BACKGROUND

Textiles play a fundamental role in shaping spatial experience, comfort and performance. This collection approaches textile design as an architectural component rather than a decorative layer. Developed in collaboration with ByBorre, the project explores how textiles can support furniture and interiors through structure, material logic and longevity.

PROCESS

The collection was developed using ByBorre’s advanced knitting technology, which enables the creation of three-dimensional textile structures in a single, seamless production process. By programming stitch geometry and material placement, the technology allows for precise control of density, elasticity, texture and surface depth.

This approach makes it possible to engineer tactile and functional qualities directly into the textile, while maintaining high efficiency and scalability. Prototyping focused on repeatability, durability and performance across a range of applications.

SOLUTION

The result is a collection of performance-driven, three-dimensional textiles with a restrained, architectural colour palette. Designed for upholstery and spatial use, the textiles combine comfort, durability and visual depth. The collection’s patterns vary in scale to create different expressions within the same material system—ranging from calm, uniform surfaces to more pronounced, textured fields. This enables a cohesive visual language across products while allowing each upholstered object to take on a distinct appearance and character.
