Carl Hansen & Søn has introduced a new material variant for four of Hans J. Wegner’s dining table designs from 1962.
The CH327, CH337, CH338, and CH339 are now offered in a combination of FSC-certified teak and oak — a pairing that did not exist in the original production runs.
The tables feature a tabletop in oiled teak, paired with a base in solid oak.
The contrast between the warm, dark grain of teak and the lighter oak structure reinforces the sculptural character of each design. Wegner’s original intention — to balance visual weight with a sense of lightness — reads clearly in the new material combination.
The rectangular CH327 presents a top that appears to float above its base, while the elliptical CH337, CH338, and CH339 — available in different dimensions — benefit from the teak grain as a focal point in the organic form.
All timber is FSC-certified, and the surface treatment uses an environmentally compatible oil finish. The tables are available through authorised Carl Hansen & Søn retailers.
Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) was one of the central figures in Danish furniture design. His work for Carl Hansen & Søn spans several decades and includes some of the most-produced Scandinavian designs of the twentieth century.
