Poul Kjærholm’s furniture design has a special place in Fritz Hansen’s heart

Fritz Hansen now introducing the PK25 as a special version in black halyard. The PK25 was Kjærholm’s final design project from the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in 1952 and until now it has been available in neutral coloured flag halyard.

Kjærholm’s pure and beautiful lines fit naturally in Fritz Hansen’s universe.

Poul Kjærholm was engaged by Fritz Hansen in 1952 to develop his graduation project – a chair in laminated wood (PK0). When Poul Kjærholm died in 1980, Fritz Hansen acquired the rights from Kold Christensen to most of Kjærholm’s furniture.

Poul Kjærholm’s original vision behind his design was to develop furniture that was financially accessible to all and which was relevant in time – however, paradoxically, his furniture is now in a very exclusive class; nevertheless, his designs are some of the most coveted and admired pieces in the world. Poul Kjærholm is a source of inspiration to many young architects and designers all over the world.
